1966 Fender Blackface Bassman into Fane AXA12 100w Alnico Blue
This capture is based on my 1966 Blackface Fender Bassman into the very rare and highly regarded Fane AXA12 100w Alnico Blue. The Blackface Bassman is legendary for a reason. It’s extremely punchy, tight, and it has a very “forward” feel. Paired with the 100w Fane Alnico Blue you end up with a broader, bigger eq and the beautiful alnico breakup that is perfect with the Bassman. The breakup of the amp is dry and beautifully compressed and the high wattage alnico gives it room to breathe and punch while still managing to add its own sweet compression and expansiveness to the tone.
The Fane AXA12 is a fascinating speaker that carries a similar character and magic to the JMI labeled Fane 100w Alnico Blues except with an even more open and hifi top end and almost sub-like low end.
This combo is perfect if you want the power and punch of the Bassman with the unique flair and sweetness of a high wattage alnico speaker.
The amp was tube rolled to achieve the most balanced eq and tasteful breakup response.
This purchase includes one capture using a Shure 545 into an API 512c preamp.
